On the one hand these systems make powerful and useful tools in traditional teaching. On the other hand they will help to change the contents of what we teach and the methods of how we teach. In this paper we survey various roles which the TI can play in traditional mathematics teaching and we develop a concept for a new mathematics curriculum. A tool like the TI can change mathematics teaching fundamentally. But before this will happen, we need to teach mathematics according to existing curricula. Hence in this paper we discuss the impact of the TI in two parts: Part 1 surveys how one can use the TI as a tool for traditional maths teaching, i. Part 2 discusses the impact tools such as the TI will have for changing the contents and the methods in mathematics education.
